TummyTime!™

time on their tummy – essential for good health!

Teach your baby to love “tummy time”! Babies need to develop core (tummy) strength to lift their heads, roll over, focus their eyes, crawl, and even to form speech! Over the course of this unique class, you will learn how tummy time promotes optimal health for your baby and discover creative ways to engage your baby in tummy time activities that are fun and supportive of motor and sensory brain development. Baby yoga poses and activities are incorporated in each class, as well as baby massage and reflexology techniques which promote brain development, lessen reflux/colic symptoms, enhance sleep patterns, and promote bonding between parent and child.  Bring your “new mom/dad” questions and concerns to class for group discussion and guidance from your instructor certified in Infant Behavioral Assessment.

Tiny Tunes

This joyful class of musical play incorporates songs from all over the world emphasizing many different cultures. The use of simple musical instruments and free expression dance encourages tempo and rhythm awareness. Singing, rhythmical music games and finger-play enhance the development of your child’s cognitive, motor, and memory skills and promote freedom to experiment all the wonders of sound, improving listening skills, concentration, and self-esteem. We’ll shake, rattle, and roll!

Baby yoga and interactive play activities abound in this fun class for pre-crawlers!    Emphasized is the importance of floor time, positioning and movement for your baby’s sensory and motor development. Also included are a variety of simple hands-on techniques that calm and nurture your baby.  Each week our infant behavioral specialist will share specific techniques to promote your baby’s awareness and thinking skills, as well as activities to promote the mind-body connection, all through “play”!

Now that your child is able to hold their head up, roll, and sit without support, it’s time to get movin’!  In these weekly sensory “play” classes our developmental specialist will share activities and techniques to enhance your child’s cognitive skills and motor development providing you with hundreds of simple and tangible activities that you can take home to have fun with your baby.  In this fun-filled class we’ll focus on all the muscles necessary to creep, crawl, pull to stand, and walk.  Babies have the ability to take in twice as much information as college students so come prepared with all early parenting questions – we’ve got answers!

The Next Step

Now that your toddler is beginning to walk and talk, everyday is new and exciting, filling their minds with wonder and curiosity! Join us as we take “the next step” in your toddler’s developmental journey as we look and listen to the world around us through song, dance, games and storytelling.   We’ll associate words with colors, shapes, animals and other everyday objects bringing them to life through your child’s eyes!  Fine motor skills will be emphasized as we build, sort, and stack. So let’s clap our hands, stomp our feet, and explore fun ways to fine-tune your child’s motor skills and enhance their language development.

Finding yourself constantly saying, “no”, “don’t”, “it’s not your turn”, or “you need to share”? At this stage in your child’s development consistency, reinforcement, and patience are key in order to model compassion, respectfulness, and kindness. Through songs, role-play, puppetry, storytelling, and simple games your child will learn ways to appropriately express their feelings, resulting in minimized negative behavior such as screaming and hitting. You’ll learn age appropriate techniques for handling discipline issues as well as strategies to encourage sharing, taking turns, and creative ways to avoid conflict without crushing your child’s spirit with fear or humiliation, as they learn to cooperate and socially interact with other children.

Encourage your child to release their inner creativity during our weekly story-themed art classes. We’ll explore with a wide variety of mediums, such as paint, clay, sand, products from nature, and everyday recyclable items. Giving your child the freedom to express themselves artistically enhances their cognitive skills, problem-solving abilities, manual dexterity, and sensory awareness. Take some “time out together” with your  little one to enjoy our fun-filled parent-child enrichment class as we loosely introduce classroom structure and focus on increasing young children’s attention spans. Each class includes themed “Learning Times”, such as Meet & Greet, Circle, Exploration, Story, & Music, during which we’ll engage in hands-on learning activities and practical life skills, focus on cognitive and motor skill development, and promote language and social skills. Throughout the class our facilitator will discuss topics  like nutrition, discipline, sleeping issues, & preschool preparation.  Each week you’ll leave with new ideas and activities to enhance your child’s development that can be used within your own home.

When presented in a child’s language, yoga can help counter the stress experienced by young people living in a hurry-up world. The integration of creative movement, music, and yoga enhances growing children’s flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. Children will jump at the chance to assume the role of animals, trees, flowers, and warriors. Whether they bark in the dog pose, stretch like a cat, balance like a flamingo, breathe like a bunny, or stand strong and tall like a tree they’re learning stillness, expanding their imagination, and developing a reverence for all life.

Preschool Prep

Thinking about sending your child to preschool?  This class is designed to help prepare your 2  to 3 year-old for the preschool experience, or act as a supplement for homeschooling families. During this 1-hour class we’ll explore all the skills necessary for beginning school. Each class, of which you may choose to attend one or two per week, will include themed “Learning Times”, during which we’ll engage in hands-on learning activities, through which your child will learn pre-reading skills, pre-math skills, writing preparation and practical life skills. Activities are designed to help increase your child’s independence so there will be many opportunities to practice following directions. Woven throughout each class is much singing, rhyme recitation, and dramatic role play. Wow – all the skills necessary for a great beginning school experience with the comfort of your child knowing you’ll be participating in class with them, the perfect transitional experience! Each week you’ll leave with a variety of ways to help reinforce learning outcomes at home. Come! Play! Learn!

Combining story-telling with yoga movement and poses stimulates your child’s creativity and imagination, as well as promoting the physical benefits of aligning the body.  Using stories and songs from a variety of cultures makes the world a little smaller for young children and reinforces that kids are kids – no matter where they live, what language they speak, or what color their skin is. As we explore India, China, Germany, Egypt, and Native American cultures, to name a few, your child will develop focus, concentration, self-discipline, inner awareness and relaxation skills, as well as gaining self-confidence and self-worth.

Imagine That!

Dramatic play encourages children to express themselves through movement, storytelling and imaginative freedom. It is an enchanting way for preschoolers to explore their feelings and emotions, overcome fears, build confidence, enhance language skills, problem-solve, and “practice” life skills. Your child will excitedly look forward to the Imagine That “treasure chest” overflowing with costumes, instruments, and items of make-believe. Once quoted, “Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.”
