Programs for Families
We know that family time is precious time. We also know that with all the stresses of our daily lives, creating time with your family that’s both fun and educational is of utmost importance. At the CFEC, we’ve created programs that are designed to bring parent and child together in a playful and educational way.
Star Glazers
pottery painting family fun!
Ceramics gets children in touch with nature, feeling the earth, understanding where clay comes from, and even allows children the opportunity to explore early chemistry and physics – how clay changes when it is fired, how glazes change color and mix to form new colors. Playdough is rolled up and packed away when playtime is over, but with pottery children can create pieces that are kept forever. This fosters a child’s self-esteem and children see themselves as capable of engaging in a truly purposeful activity. Join us for some pottery family fun – think Mother’s Day and Father’s Day!
- Saturday, April 10th
- Open Studio format: 10:00 – 1:00
- Cost: pieces range from $10 – $15
Please RSVP to indicate your interest in attending at cfec@fuse.net . If you didn’t learn of this event until less than 48 hours prior, please call us to confirm that it is still being held.
Family Friendly Fridays
Need to get out and socialize with other adults but don’t want to leave your little one(s) with a sitter? We know that after baby comes along, carefree dining at a restaurant with friends goes out the window, so we’re opening our doors on specially selected Friday evenings to offer entertainment the whole family can enjoy. Our sunroom will be open to encourage adult socialization over a cup of coffee while local family-friendly musicians, storytellers, and artists provide casual entertainment. Children are welcomed rather than frowned upon.
- To Be Announced
- Ages: Bring the whole gang!
Cost: A $2.00 donation is kindly requested to help us cover our costs. Those who make a donation will be entered into a drawing for a free child’s class series of your choice (a $100 value!)!
Whale of a Tale
interactive story time
Instill the love of reading within your child from infancy upward by participating in our multi-sensory story hour. Weekly themes incorporate story telling, singing, and rhyming. The many benefits of reading to children include increased attention spans, enhanced vocabulary development, and curiosity – a trait that must be fostered in young children or they will never acquire it. Many children who are read to begin reading on their own without any formal instruction. Come with your “listening ears” on!

Spanish Signing Safari
trilingual by two!
Enjoying signing with your child? Why not add a third language to your child’s vocabulary? This “only-one-of-its-kind” class includes all the elements and benefits of the Signing Safari class with the added bonus of incorporating Spanish! Signs act as kinesthetic symbols that your child can use to label objects and activities, accelerating their Spanish acquisition. Using sign language, English, and Spanish in tandem provides a much richer language base, and as a result of all the overlapping integrated brain activities the language center of the brain actually grows! Children who learn two or more languages do better academically, are often more creative, possess greater problem solving skills, and perform better academically than children with just one language. Trilingual before two? You bet!
- Ages: 12 – 35 months
- Thursdays; Mch. 25 – May 27 (Class Code: SSS0)
- 10-week Spring Term; 11:15 – 12:00
- Parent/Child Interactive
- It’s strongly recommended that your child has participated in 1-2 sessions of the Signing Safari class prior to attending this Spanish version.
Cost: $100/family

The PeaWee Patch -NEW!
organic gardening fun
Whether it’s wiggling their toes in the dirt, looking under leaves, or digging up worms, the garden cultivates a sense of wonder in children! As they plant seeds, protect their plants from weeds, and provide water for their growing flowers, fruits, and veggies, they develop nurturing skills and grow to have a sense of respect and care for all living creatures, even the ones that live under rocks! In the garden, students learn to work cooperatively with others, practice patience, and experience pride in their accomplishments. Each of our themed gardening classes opens with music, a story, and a craft, then we’ll spend the remainder of our time out in the PeaWee Patch (weather permitting). Join us and watch your child’s love for nature blossom!

Family Fiesta
Spanish for the whole family
Children should begin learning a second language as early as possible because a child’s brain is capable of storing different languages in different areas, something that an adult brain is incapable of. Come join our family fiesta – no sombrero needed!

Parent Testimonials
My four month old never napped during the day. After learning how to massage her legs in Tummy Time, she slept for two hours, ate and slept another hour. What a relief!
new Mom
If only every child could be as fortunate-to have such happy early experiences with music as my granddaughter did with Liz Archer. The classes were memorable and magical times for every child and adult there!
-Christina
I absolutely love the center! It is such a great gift and much needed in this area. With the economic environment, it is such a gem! We especially love the signing class; it's unbelievable that Melody can hold our 6 month old's attention the whole class!
Erica
I LOVE the CFEC! Saturday mornings are such a treat for me and Piper! You should be so so so proud of the Center and the people who work there. They are all so nice and I truly feel like I’m visiting my friend’s house every time I go. It’s so cozy and inviting!
